"You can find the explanations and photos of the 10.000 m2 finished project on 2015 below. Project has been executed with 150 site employees, 8 technical staff, and 3 administrative staff and been consulted by one international and one local supervision and consultant teams. The details are as follows. "

1 - Dismantling & Demolition


 Some samples from demolishing works. Due to site conditions and allocation of the buildings demolishing works were carried out part by part. Since the factory was a working factory all demolishing and reconstructing works were done sequentially.


2 - Excavation

Excavation of continuous foundations and isolated footings. Due to the presence of attached buildings excavation works were carried out with more attention and H&S precautions. Existing infrastructure and foundation systems were demolished and cleaned as well.

3 - Foundation Works

Due to the dimensions of isolated footings, continuous foundation system was preferred in most parts of all buildings. Prior to column neck castings steel column anchors were installed. Double checks were done by land surveyor for each anchor and base plate in order to be sure about the coordinates of the anchor rods. By completion of curing period and damp proofing application back filling and base course filling work had been executed. Following to base course filling and compaction test results slab on grade casting had been started.

4 - Steel Erection

App. 1200 tons of structural steel had been manufactured in Türkiye and exported to Sudan. App. 10.000m2 of steel structure had been erected. Since the project was an extension and upgrade project erections were completed part by part for not to cause and production loss in a working factory. App. 5000m2 of composite deck had been erected and casted.

5 - Masonry & Plastering

In the masonry work for partitioning and fire compartment solid blocks were used as per technical specifications. Blocks had been manufactured in Sudan and following to satisfactory of required tests work had been started and executed. Ordinary plastering application was done and prior to paint application surface finalized with putty application.

6 - Insulation

On the insulation work of roof where the machinery or mechanical system pedestals are located, both water insulation and thermal insulation had been done. Sequence of system was composite deck, thermal insulation, screed, water insulation, geotextile fabric, screed and terrazzo tiling. For thermal insulation extruded polystyrene boards (XPS) and for water insulation polyurethane (PU) waterproofing membrane had been applied. By selecting PU waterproofing material, day and night temperature differences and accordingly thermal expansions and its impacts on the system had been eliminated.

7 - Cladding

Either for walls or roof, aluminum sandwich panels had been selected and installed. Aggressive weather conditions (UV Radiation, heavy and instant rain, very high temperature, sand storm etc.) in Sudan and FM global requirements have been taken into consideration while selecting the type of panels and the painting of the panels as well.

8 - Flooring

Polyurethane flooring system was preferred due to the production conditions inside the building. The selected material has a high resistance to chemicals and impact resistance as well. According to the allocation of the equipment and forklift traffic inside the building, application was done as colored.

9 - Finishing

Some of the finishing works can be listed as natural basalt stone for facade cladding, terrazzo tiling on roof, sectional doors, fire doors, louvered doors etc. Especially louvered doors were designed and manufactured in his own facilities according to Client’s requirements by DEDEM AUTOMATION which is the sister company of DECONS.

10 - Siphonic System

Siphonic system had been preferred to be applied on this project. According to Sudan weather conditions (which is short but very heavy rain season) this system had been recommended to the client and applied. Special precautions for sand storms and excessive rain flow rate have been taken into consideration during the design and installation phases.
